118. Cobra lilies (51cm x 61 cm)

R3,250.00

These little lilies bloom in May.  When you look closely at it, you will see the head of a cobra is representing by the flower and the pollen apparatus represents the forked tongue.  Quite cute. They grow mainly in coastal bush and in the margins of the forests in the Southern and Western Cape.  Their fancy name is:  Chasmanthe arthiopica.  Also known as Piempiempie or than Cobra lilies.  They sometimes form large colonies that dance happily in the sea breeze.  I have painted this in Acrylics.  I have tried to portray the movement and energy of these little flowers in the breeze.
